Clearly dyslexics have the potential to achieve wonderful things if they are sympathetically educated, but if unrecognised and unsupported, they cannot learn effectively, leading to frustration and failure.
Sadly no matter how well intentioned, very few teachers are adequately trained to recognise or teach dyslexics who account for at least 10% of their pupils (research shows that 1 in 5 children have some sort of SpLD).
What's more, the methods used to teach dyslexic children help with all learning difficulties and literacy and numeracy in general, so it's not just the dyslexic children who will get the right start.
So how can you help?
