Calling all teachers!
Are you currently teaching in a state school and envy the provision for supporting pupils with Dyslexia available in many private schools?
We know there is a huge problem out there in terms of lack of available training and support in schools for teachers who are trying to do their best for children with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). After all, research by the National Union of Teachers showed that 77% of you would like training, less than 14% feel comfortable about trying to recognise dyslexia in children and less than 9% of you feel able to teach dyslexic pupils effectively.
There has to be a solution found and we want to be the catalyst to get something done!
Are you a teacher in a state school who is keen to get better provision in your school for identifying and supporting pupils with Dyslexia or other Specific Learning Difficulties? Maybe the funding just isn't there. Perhaps there isn't any training on offer to help you or could it be that the school leadership share your concerns but just feel that their hands are tied?
Lots of teachers have already told us that whilst staff are willing, they feel that there are barriers preventing them from making a difference in their own school and they would like to see things change. Why not tell us what you think?
